Post Title: Chief Executive

Responsible to: The Board

Purpose of job:

  • The effective strategic leadership, direction and management of Family HA in line with key corporate and business plan objectives
  • To develop and promote Family HA by leading and implementing policy and Board decisions within the framework of agreed values, rules, aims and objectives
  • To ensure Family HA performs to the highest standards and in accordance with external statutory and regulatory obligations and internal controls and targets

Responsibilities:

  • To work with and advise the Board in setting the strategic direction of Family HA and develop key business objectives
  • To lead the Senior Management Team (SMT), ensuring that corporate goals and values are effectively communicated and develop an empowering and motivated culture
  • To ensure that Family HA is managed effectively and efficiently to develop, improve and maintain housing services to the highest standard within available resources
  • To produce appropriate service delivery plans, as agreed with the Board, with appropriate targets and objectives, within the context of a performance and continuous improvement culture
  • In conjunction with the SMT, to ensure that Family HA’s Business Plan is produced, implemented successfully and reviewed regularly to meet changing business need and priorities
  • To ensure that Financial and Risk Management Strategies are implemented and appropriate control exercised throughout Family HA to maintain and enhance the financial security of the organisation
  • To provide strategic direction by creating and maintaining an appropriate business development strategy aligned to Family HA’s vision and values
  • To drive and monitor the performance of Family HA within a clear framework, ensuring that key business objectives are met
  • To promote, develop and implement quality and value for money services and initiatives in line with Family HA’s mission and values
  • To ensure the financial security and performance of Family HA is maintained and enhanced through effective and robust operational control
  • To promote the activities and profile of Family HA, both internally through excellent communication channels and externally by marketing the Association in the community, the housing sector, funders and other key partners
  • To establish and maintain positive and influential relationships with key stakeholders, including the Regulator of Social Housing, Homes England and local authorities through developing effective partnership working
  • To provide appropriate and effective reporting systems to ensure that the Board is provided with policy plans and proposals, financial and other performance information to fulfill governance responsibilities
  • To be accountable to the Board for the implementation of Family HA’s equality and diversity policies
  • To ensure that Family HA’s health and safety policies are implemented as required in order to comply with relevant codes of practice and legislation.

No job description can be entirely comprehensive and the Board may require the Chief Executive to undertake other duties from time to time consistent with the status and responsibilities of the role.
